#TBT to Tuesday when these new jams first graced our ears…
The Longshots released their first self-titled LP on Mock Records. As CMJ says, “these guys know how to have some serious fun” and we can’t agree more – straight up rough-house-light-shit-on-fire-lets-get-some-whiskey-and-dance-til-dawn music. Check out their video then do yourself a favor and get the album.
Baby Blue (aka Jacob Loeb, friends and a cohort of James Franco’s) dropped his new EP, “Promenade” on Manimal/LOOSE Recordings. Baby Blue creates that dreamy-pop that makes us long for summer days, lying on the beach with
James Franco err… friends.
HOTT MT (Hour Of The Time Majesty Twelve) dropped a new single “Kat Kastle/Morning” from White Iris. If you haven’t heard them before, you are in for a treat of trippy, psychedelic, rock music that doesn’t make you wonder why they are friends with Wayne Coyne.
In case you can’t tell, we are very excited over here that our very own Syd Butler has joined the new Late Night With Seth Meyers band. The 8G Band, named after the Late Night studios, is led by Fred Armisen and features Les Savy Fav’s Seth Jabour on guitar and Syd Butler playing that “bass-powered brand of terse post-punk.” Be sure to watch tonight!!

Blah blah CMJ blah blah.
Ok, I feel better now.
But really, I hate myself for adding to the CMJ recap posts. However, I am excited and proud of all our bands and labels that hosted showcases and played around town last week.
In particular, I have been so bombarded with rave reviews about our newest label Exploding in Sound that I cannot keep quiet any longer.
First we have a full recap of the label’s showcase from Stereogum in which they called EIS “the most exciting rock label in years”. Read the full thing HERE.
Additionally, Billboard picked their favorite 10 bands from all of CMJ 2013 and two of them (Palehound, Ovlov) just happen to be on EIS!! Thats like 20% or something..!! Palehound’s EP can be found HERE, Ovlov’s LP HERE. Check out the full list HERE.
The New York TImes even mentioned Ovlov and spelled their name wrong!!
The last highlight comes from Myspace. According to them, the EIS showcase was both the sweatiest and the noisiest show of CMJ!! COOL! See em all HERE.
And if you wanna learn even more about Exploding in Sound, Consequence of Sound recently featured an interview with the founders! Check it HERE.
